By now, North Plainfield residents should have received their third quarter property tax coupons. The property tax for the third quarter is still an estimate and will most likely change for subsequent quarters. While it’s nearly impossible to separate out the effect of ‘09 municipal budget changes and school taxes, we set up a very simple unscientific poll to see how voters property taxes have changed versus the second quarter. Please be honest in your response. Thank you!

Its completely disgusting that I have to pay more than $10,500 a year in property taxes for a small cape cod on a 1/3 of an acre lot. The town should be mowing my lawn, cleaning the house and buffing my shoes for that much money. I have relatives who pay half that amount for a similarly sized house and lot in Clark – and they have a school that I wouldn’t think twice about sending my kids to.

What really slams us on taxes are all the unfunded mandates from Trenton, requiring frivolous extras to a Boro budget. We have as much lobbying work to do with our state reps as we do with Boro officials

Mike… could you elaborate on this? Or at least give a few examples?

i am very happy with the recent reval and fully support all of the decisions made by the company who did them. the fact that my taxes dropped by more than 10% has nothing to do with my opinion.
hee hee.
